Vessels

The history of glass vessel making dates back more than 3,500 years!  Around 2,000 years ago humans created the blowpipe, making it possible to create vessels quicker and thinner.

Much has happened between the 2,000 year history of glass blowing history to now, but surprisingly the tools and process have remained almost unchanged or touched.

The most sophisticated works ever blown were arguably created on the island of Murano, Italy ( right next to Venice).

Nearly all of Darren's work characterizes the Venetian and Murano techniques that were developed centuries ago.

Cane working, Encalmo, and Rettichello are just a few of the techniques Darren has mastered and begun to incorporate his own voice, adding to these historic traditions of glass creation.
